As to zombies - it's just the face that they all look the same.
Guns feel bad, those that feel good you never get enough ammo for and, while I don't think enemy AI is that bad, I do think that combat is pretty weak when in the open, soldiers just stand there looking at you, that part where you have to defend Alyx hacking the gates I think is the worst example.
Also, I have no clue what you mean by >Having to improvise a temporary structure out of barrels
as I've never done it and I don't know why would you at any point of the game. I've built some stairs out of the junk, but never tried to make a cover, at this point you might as well just throw the barrels at the enemy.
Again, I like the game fair amount, I beat the whole series at least once a year, it's purely the fact that how much underdeveloped and shallow most of the gameplay is. It's the>oh here comes the boat part>oh here comes the prison part>oh here comes that part where I ride in the coffin and nothing happens and I have no control>oh here comes there lighthouse part>oh here comes the bridge part
Ep1 focuses mostly on the Citadel and Ep2 is pretty short and goes from cave crawling to the antlion tower defense section to that killer explosion of an ending, while HL2 just throws shit at you to see if it sticks. Alyx is amazing, simple as, wish the game had the balls to throw more at me, but oh well.
I'm glad they didn't make that alpha a reality because it seemed really fucking dull, so that's something I guess.
Also, Borealis as an idea is fantastic.>>8240595> replicate the feeling of powerlessness
I don't think that's the reason to be honest, I just think they've made the guns that way and rolled with it, maybe they've straight up copied properties from 1 and said fuck it, worked in the first one.
