This board is for the discussion of classic, or "retro" games, including consoles, computer games, arcade games (including pinball) and any other forms of video games. Retro gaming means platforms launched in 2001 and earlier, and official game titles for those platforms released no later than December 2007 (homebrew console games made after this date will be permitted). The Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo Game Boy Advance, and Sony PlayStation 2 will now be considered "retro".

whats up with this shit? Is it lazy or on purpose? Why make a bunch of doors that don't go anywhere?
To make the world feel larger and more realistic. Otherwise you would either have a bunch of useless rooms there to fill space or have all the buildings be unrealistically small.
Most games do this.
This. Basically every modern game does it as well, but most games don't even let you interact with the door at all.
gee anon what could a bunch of closed doors symbolize when juxtaposed with the only path forward being a plunge into a dark abyss of uncertainty
It means that its scary? I dunno I'm not good with symbolism
James is stuck and has no choice but to confront his own suppressed trauma if he wants to move forward and keep living as a human being. He is in a prison of his own making where all the other paths are barred until he confronts his own pain.
>10 games >Mega Man: The Power Battle, Mega Man II: The Power Fighters, Mega Man X, Mega Man Soccer, Mega Man and Bass, Street Fighter 2, SF2CE, SSF2, SSF2T, Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo >No CPS3 games >Fucking Mega Man Soccer was chosen instead of one of the MMX games or Street Fighter 3 >The only Street Fighter games are the SF2 variants and Puzzle Fighter >Super fucking ugly What the fuck, Capcom?
We'll just hack it like every other mini thing
>>7113156 >Fucking Mega Man Soccer was chosen instead of one of the MMX games
You can already buy nearly every Mega Man X game on your platform of choice right this second. The real mystery is why they included Mega Man X.

Is this what the so called ''SUPER DUPER HYPER SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT SUPRISE'' was supposed to be on that capcom event?, another fucking gimp chode emu android app machine? i bet emulation is gonna be shoddy as shit too, like the neo geo ones?
Just fucking download FB Neo on retroarch or something, maybe even invest in a decent joystick, put the astro city shader, and BAM!
I hope they get their faces beaten to a bloddy pulp.
I assume Megaman Soccer was chosen because it lends itself better to the arcade-style most of the other games have. Megaman X and Megaman and Bass are the real filler games.
Mega Man Soccer is based, you nerds got filtered.
Why did they even bother putting Donkey Kong Jr. Math as one of the playable NES games in this game?
Who in their right mind would ever play Donkey Kong Jr. math?
This is my board son.
When was the last time you popped in and played DK Jr math? My point is, they should've used that space for almost any other NES game. DK Jr. Math is a cool novelty, but not exactly worth playing as an adult.
>>7113019 >plays a cute math game for children >complains it’s too easy
Dk jr is a cute game for children, but is still fun for adults.
Dk jr math is fun for nobody. It's too easy for adults, and children don't want to play an educational game if they don't have to.
How is DK jr a cute game for children? In what way is it "for children"?
It's a nintendo game made for children.
Let's settle this once and for all.
Super Mario Bros 3 or Super Mario World?
ah yes mario 3's minigames that do not compliment the game play at all and are useless bullshit padding that always has the same vapid "challenge"
World has better graphics, therefore it is better.
switch palace isnt a minigame retard
3 of them are, retard, they all involve a puzzle to get a 1up by using koopa shells, you probably never figured any because of your low IQ.

Hugo Martin? Is that you?
just run past them if that's the case, they don't drop anything
HL's gunplay isn't the best, but I do think the platforming, sense of exploration, and hazards of a science facility elevate it regardless. So while I might not phrase it like you did, I see where you're coming from at least.
>>7113504 >he leaves Barney and scientists alone with the monsters
Truly you were the monster all along.
In all seriousness, if you're just going to beeline to the exit, I'm not sure why you'd play the games. Immerse yourself.
Barney is not only a homosexual but a known sexual predator. He deserves it.
Why exactly was it that the SNES had so many more (and arguably better) JRPGs? The Mega Drive having better shmups and arcade ports makes sense on paper, since the system architecture is suited to what those genres demand. But the SNES's key technical advantages (far more colours + mode 7 scaling) don't seem to have any inherent advantages for the RPG genre. Mega Drive JRPGs definitely existed, and some were even quite good. For some reason though, even developers with big presences on both platforms, like Capcom, would always develop their JRPGs for the SNES. Is it just a case of Final Fantasy bringing the audience to the console, and devs catering to the audience?
play the switch version, it has automap.
Hardware differences played a big role. SNES had a slower processor but a much better color palette and was able to recreate symphonic sounds pretty well.
I'd say the biggest reason though is simply because the megadrive wasn't very popular in japan, so of course there wasn't going to be many JRPGs on it. Then again, maybe the lack of JRPGs is part of the reason it never really caught on in japan either? PC Engine CD also had a fair amount of JRPGs. For Sega CD all I can really think of is Lunar.
Ah you make a good point too, I forgot that the PC Engine CD would have been very attractive to JRPG devs.
Wizardry Gaiden IV.
What's funny is that Mega Drive is better for someone who wants western RPGs.
This game is stinky poop diarrhea farts
Finally a quality thread
>story time My dad won this garbage game from a radio contest or something. Didn’t have a Nintendo at the time so he got one for my brother and I. God knows how many hours I spent playing the NES, the classic games and times. All thanks to Mickey fucking mousecapades.
>I'm sorry, but sound? Has to go to SEGA Do people unironically pretend to actually like the Genesis bass burps?
>>7107881 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zG1H_88Vmh0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9WzrJ5OyWA
The Genesis was capable of audio quality that shit all over the SNES. Cartridge size limitations were a significant detriment, however.
>>7107891 >chatting about music from the gta radio stations in work with a mate >croat coworker heres us talk about video game music >"BEST MUSIC IS OUTRUN ON SEGA" >instantly kills the conversation and leaves
He wasnt wrong
I grew up with Nintendo stuff and have always disliked the vvvvvbbbzzzzz sound of the Genesis. But what you say is not true. It had some bad music, some good music that sounded a bit ugly because of the buzzing, and even some good music that didn't sound ugly.
I consider its sound hardware to be kinda bad in general... at least when used by the actual developers that existed then. But the bad parts of it can be sidestepped or transcended. In theory it could be used to make a whole game's worth of music that doesn't have any of that crappy ugly sound in it at all. I'm not aware of any games that are completely free of ugly sounds, but I haven't played a huge number of Genesis games so maybe they are out there.
did they fug?
>>7113494 >the darker one likes SEGA
So you're fucking telling me Tron Bonne has this really cool glasses design and NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT IT?!
Time to move on to Duckstation or Mednafen.
I wish we could have a Tron Bonne thread without it being coomer-bait.
Yes I want to impregnate her.
